Drip bag coffee needs nothing but a cup and hot water - which makes it ideal for hotels that do not want to install and maintain machines in every room. Drip bags are lightweight, take almost no storage space, and deliver a clean pour-over cup that reads as "specialty" to guests. They are also easy to swap flavors seasonally without changing hardware.
Capsules: consistency for machine-equipped rooms
If a hotel already runs capsule machines - or wants a premium espresso option - aluminum capsules compatible with popular machines deliver a rich cup with crema at the touch of a button. Capsules shine when consistency across thousands of rooms matters more than flexibility.
Cost and logistics at hotel scale
At property scale, both formats are economical, but the economics differ. Drip bags have a lower per-unit cost and no machine maintenance burden. Capsules add the cost and care of machines, but command a higher perceived value per cup in premium segments. Storage is a factor too: drip bags are far lighter per serving than aluminum capsules.

No machines in rooms? Start with drip bags. Machines already installed, or targeting a premium espresso moment? Add capsules. Most growing hotel programs end up running both - drip bags as the flexible default, capsules as the premium option.
